Sisterhood, Sharks and Storms
A Memoir
One morning Laura DeSisto woke up and realized motherhood had swallowed her whole – she had lost her sense of self apart from her children. A scuba diving trip to the Bahamas was the catalyst for transformation and growth in her life. With biting humor and vivid detail, she recalls hair-raising encounters with man eating sharks, the death of a friend who had become more like a sister, and the aftermath of the most powerful hurricane in Bahamian history. A fast-paced memoir, hilarious and heartbreaking. This story will stay with you long after the final page.
Hello. I’m Laura DeSisto, a Boston based, non-fiction writer.
I started my career writing copy for ad agencies. Now my focus is on writing for magazines – both print and online. I have covered everything from interior design, architecture, health and wellness, celebrities and more.
On a personal note, I am an avid scuba diver and shark lover and frequently dive “cage free” with the world’s most dangerous sharks.
